This is the wedding of Sam and Leonie from last summer. It was my first time as a Barton wedding photographer and I was amazed at St Mary’s Church on the High Street. It’s so beautiful, especially when the sun shines through the stained glass windows and casts some beautiful lighting on the alter.
Leonie got ready at the reception venue which was also a relatives house, and a stunning house at that. Whilst hair and make-up was being applied the bridesmaids added the finishing touches to table settings in the marque. I left a few minutes before the wedding party so I could capture them arriving at the church.
I was surprised at how much natural light their was available in the church. Churches are notorious for being dark, relying heavily upon overhead spot lights which creates unpleasant shadows on the faces below. After the service the guests went outside to throw confetti on the couple, who then made their way to the reception in a beautiful E-Type Jaguar.
Some canapés and group shots later it was time for the speeches which were lovely and heart felt with plenty of laughter too. After that I took the couple away for portraits on the grounds whereby I met the families’ goat and managed to get her into a shot or two. We then headed back for the first dance which started as just the couple dancing by themselves before being revealed to their guests.
